When Do You Mail Your Christmas Cards?
No, really. When do you?
Several years ago (okay, like 10), I was so obsessed with Christmas Cards. I filled them out the day after Thanksgiving (while we waiting for our tree to acclimate) and mailed them on Saturday. Every year.
To me, it was the most important thing in the world. I didn’t get many Christmas Cards, but I loved sending them. Then 8 years ago, we moved into this house and my address book went *poof* (along with a small box of Christmas decorations, one of H’s drills, 2 of my dogs’ leashes, and my favorite potato masher – it’s totally weird the things you lose in a move).
In the last 8 years, since we moved) I think I’ve managed to get the Christmas Cards out on time twice. There were 3 years that I didn’t even bother, and the rest of the years I just made them for people who I would be seeing and attached them to their Christmas gifts (yes, totally lame, I know).
Trying To Do Better
This year I’m trying to actually get them done on time, and then (because that’s the easy part in my world) actually get them sent out (it doesn’t sound hard, but I think I have the memory of a goldfish or something!
How I’m Doing It
I’ve made a promise to myself to have them done on Black Friday (like I used to) and I’m going to have D help me. She loves helping me address the envelopes and sticking stamps on them and I’ve been depriving her of that.
When They’re Going Out
They will be mailed Monday, the 30th. It’s completely non-negotiable. I have it on my calendars and my phone is set to remind me. I’m doing it this year, getting back on track!
